Crochet Baby Slippers

The easy-to-follow instructions ensure a smooth crocheting process, resulting in a pair of soft and snug slippers that are gentle on delicate skin. Beyond their practicality, these slippers add a charming touch to any baby wardrobe.

Tip:

To ensure a snug and comfortable fit, measure the baby’s feet accurately before starting the project.

Materials:

  • Yarn: 240 meters – 100 grams of acrylic, 90% cotton and 10%
  • Crochet needles: Size 3 mm
  • 35 grams of stuffing

Abbreviations:

  • Ch: Chain
  • Sc: Single crochet
  • Inc: Increase (make 2 single crochets in the same stitch)
  • Dec: Decrease (crochet 2 single crochets together)
  • Sl st: Slip stitch
  • Hdc: Half double crochet
  • Dc: Double crochet

Steps:

Row 1:

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc around the edge of the sole evenly. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (You’d aim for a logical number of stitches that evenly encompasses the sole, such as 30-40 sc, depending on the exact sole size reached.)

Row 2-5:

  • Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (This creates the sides of the slippers.)

Shaping the Toe:

  • To create the toe section, you may start to decrease.

Row 6:

Ch 1, sc in the first 5 sts, dec over the next 2 sts, sc in the next 10 sts, dec over the next 2 sts, sc in the last 5 sts. Join with a sl st.

Row 7:

  • Ch 1, sc in each st around, executing a decrease at each end of the row as per the previous pattern or working evenly as needed for shaping.

Finishing:

Continue with a few more rows if needed, decreasing as necessary to shape the slipper to the desired closure. Fasten off and weave in ends. To add a flap or straps for securing the slipper, pick up stitches at the desired starting point and crochet to your preferred length; secure with buttons or ties as per your design choice.
