Materials Needed:

  • Crochet Hook: F (3.75 mm)
  • Yarn: Glow-in-the-dark yarn, recommended brand is Lion Brand DIY Glow.
  • Safety Eyes: 8 mm safety eyes.
  • Black Yarn: For the swing.
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

Ghost Pattern:

Body:

Start with a Magic Ring.

  • Wrap yarn around three fingers, create a loop by tucking the working end through. Insert the crochet hook into the loop, pull tight to secure.
  • Slip stitch in the loop twice.

Round 1:

  • In the magic ring, make 6 single crochets (6 sc). Pull the ring tight to close.

Round 2:

  • In each stitch, do a single crochet increase (2 sc in each stitch) for a total of 12 single crochets.

After Round 3:

  • [Single crochet increase, 1 single crochet]—repeat around for a total of 18 stitches.

Round 4:

  • [Single crochet increase, 1 single crochet in the next two stitches]—repeat around for a total of 24 stitches.

Rounds 5-7:

  • 24 single crochets in each round, totaling 72 stitches across these 3 rounds.

Arms:

  • Chain 4 for the arm, slip stitch into the last body single crochet.
  • Make 12 single crochets.
  • Repeat the arm steps (chain 4, slip stitch) on the other side, then 12 more single crochets.

Completing Body:

For round 9:

  • single crochet 24, skipping over the arm chains (creating a gap for the swing).

Rounds 10 and 11:

  • 24 single crochets each for a total of 48 stitches.

Adding Features and Details:

Eyes:

  • Place 8 mm safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7, seven stitches apart.

Bottom Ruffle:

Round 12:

Bottom Part:

Swing:

  • To finish, chain 8, attach with a slip stitch to the opposite corner, slip stitch down the long side, and repeat the chaining and attaching on the other end.
  • For attaching the swing, find the midpoints of the chains and the ghost’s hands, string the swing chain through.
