Materials:

  • 2 skeins of Topia yarn by yarn B (size 2, fine yarn, 100% acrylic, color sage, ~312 yards per skein)
  • Size G (4 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Blunt needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Tape measure

Starting the Neck Opening:

  • Make a slip knot and chain 126 (the multiple for this pattern is 5 chains for sides and 4 chains for corners).
  • Slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring.

For Round 1:

  • Chain 3.
  • Double crochet in the next chain.
  • Chain 3, skip 3 chains, double crochet in the next two chains. Repeat pattern around the ring.
  • For corners: chain 3, skip 3 chains, in the next chain do double crochet, chain 3, and double crochet in the same chain.

Round 2:

  • Chain 3, then in each chain 3 space from the previous round, do 5 double crochets. Repeat pattern around.
  • For corners: 2 double crochets, chain 2, and 2 double crochets in the same space.

Round 3:

  • Chain 3, double crochet in the next stitch.

Pattern repeat:

  • Chain 3, skip 3 stitches, double crochet in the next two stitches. Repeat around.

For corners:

  • Chain 3, in the next chain-1 space do a treble crochet, chain 3, and double crochet in the next two stitches.

Rounds 4-5:

  • Repeat round 2-3 patterns with slight modifications for corners.

Round 6:

  • Similar to round 2, with the corner pattern of 4 double crochets, chain 2, 4 double crochets in the chain-4 space.

In Round 7:

  • Similar to round 3, with the corner pattern of double crochet, chain 3, double crochet in the chain-2 space.

Rounds 8-12:

  • Continue repeating rounds 2-7 consecutively for the yoke of the piece until you get the desired measurement for the body width. Always end on round 3, 5, or 7.

Round 13 (Creating Arm Openings):

  • Turn the piece, join two corners together with 10 chains, making an arm opening.
  • Repeat the established pattern across the front.
  • Join the opposite corners in the same way to create the second arm opening.

After Round 14:

  • Work 5 double crochet pattern repeats into each chain-3 space around the body, including over the joining chains.

Round 15-16:

  • Alternate pattern repeats from earlier rounds for the body, with modifications for the absence of corners.

Rounds 17-23:

  • Continue alternating rounds 15 and 16 to your desired length.

Neck and Arm Finishing:
