ts versatile style pairs effortlessly with shorts, skirts, or jeans for endless outfit possibilities. Customize this tank top with your favorite yarn colors to create a unique piece that reflects your personality and taste.

Tip:
For a super soft texture, opt for a cotton or bamboo blend yarn, and block your finished tank top to enhance its shape and drape.

Materials:

  • Fingering/Light DK yarn (approximately 50-100g depending on the size)
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors

Measurements:

  • Take a bust measurement and note it down. (Example: 32 or 34 inches, considered small to medium)
  • The project is made in four panels based on the bust measurement. Each panel should cover about a quarter of the bust circumference.

Pattern:

Part 1: Making the Panels (Make 4)

Starting Chain: Make a slip knot and chain 6.

  1. Row 1: Double crochet (DC) in the 4th chain from the hook. Chain 2, DC into the next chain, and then DC into the last chain.
  2. Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first DC), turn your work. In the chain-2 space from the previous row, place a V-stitch (DC, chain 2, DC).
  3. Row 3: Repeat Row 2’s pattern, making a V-stitch in the chain-2 space and a DC in the top chain of the turning chain.
  4. Rows 4-8: Repeat the pattern of Row 3, creating the straps of the top.

Increasing for Bust Coverage: The pattern now transitions to shells for increasing coverage.

Row 9: Shift from a V-stitch in the chain-2 space to a shell (2 DCs, chain 2, 2 DCs).

  • Row 10-11: Increase by making double shells and adding chain spaces.
  • Row 12 onwards: Continue increasing as needed until you reach about a quarter of the bust measurement when stretched slightly for a loose fit. For a tighter fit, consider the measurement when more stretched.

Part 2: Joining Panels

Position Panels: Lay out the panels so all the tails face the same direction.

  1. Joining Panels: Use slip stitches to join the top of the first chain of the adjoining panel.
  2. Working in Rounds: After joining all four panels, start working in rounds for the body.
  3. First Round in Body: Skip edge stitches (do not count them as stitches) and start by committing to either increasing or maintaining stitches to match the circumference needed without further increasing.
  4. Continue Rounds: Maintain the established pattern (5 DCs before a shell if that was your last pattern) all the way around, skipping appropriately at valleys and peaks, and repeat round after round until reaching the desired length of the top.
  5. Finishing: Join the rounds neatly and finish off the working yarn. Weave in all ends.

Straps:

  • After completing the body, join the straps together securely at the top and weave in the ends.

Important Note:

  • The key to fitting is adjusting the number of rounds in the panel section for your bust size and desired fit. Check the measurement against your bust size, slightly stretched for a loose fit, or more stretched for a tighter fit.
