Tip:
Opt for a high-quality cotton yarn to enhance the bralette’s durability and softness.
Materials:
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Darning needle
- 4mm crochet hook
- Yarn (acrylic preferred, such as Robin brand, doubled for thickness or use a DK weight yarn)
Bralette Cups (Make 2):
Start off with a slip knot.
- Chain 16 (adjust for size as needed; sizes detailed in the video are from XS to XL).
- Into the second chain from the hook, make a single crochet and single crochet into each chain to the end.
- In the last chain, place 3 single crochets.
- Turn your work and single crochet in each chain on the other side, ensuring you’re weaving in the yarn tail.
- Continue single crocheting in each stitch to the last one before the marker, where the middle single crochet resides.
- In the middle stitch, place 3 single crochets and mark the middle of these to indicate the top of the cup.
- Proceed with single crochets to the end.
- Repeat the process to grow the cups, marking the top center stitch each time.
- Continue to repeat until desired size for your cup, following the size guide shown in the video.
Edging and Straps:
Chain 4, turn your work, skip a stitch, and double crochet into the next. Chain 1, skip the next stitch, and then double crochet. Continue this pattern up to the top of the cup.
- At the top peak, make 1 double crochet, chain 2, and 1 more double crochet into the same chain.
- Chain 1 and create a mesh pattern on the sides of the bra cup using the double crochet and chain spaces.
- For the edging, create a spike or picot stitch around the mesh by placing a single crochet into the space, chain 4, slip stitch into the front two loops of the single crochet, then single crochet in the same space.
- To create the straps, follow the video’s instructions to form a series of chain spaces and double crochet that proceed into a continuous strap length as desired.
- Once reaching the desired strap length, work back towards the cup to thicken the strap.
Band (Bottom part of the Bralette):
Make a chain that is a multiple of 8 plus 9 extra chains.
- Create a shell pattern at designated points in the chain.
- Continue with the established pattern to build the body of the band.
- Finish the band with a final row to balance and level the top edge where bra cups will sit.
Final Assembly:
Identify the center of the band and attach bra cups symmetrically to this point using a darning needle to sew them on.
- On the sides of the bralette, create straps by chaining and then attaching to the band while placing two single crochets in each side row.
- Finish with additional side straps that will tie at the back.
- Weave in all ends, and the bralette is complete.
