Materials Needed:

  • Cotton Yarn (The example uses Cat from shaken meire, but you can use any yarn)
  • Crochet Hook matching your yarn (Example uses 2.5 mm)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Needle

Pattern:

Round 1:

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Crochet five single crochet (sc) stitches in the ring. (Stitches count: 5)
  • Pull yarn to close the ring.
  • Finish round with a slip stitch (sl st) in the first stitch.

Round 2:

  • Start in the same stitch as the sl st, chain two (ch 2).
  • Make two double crochet (dc) stitches closed together in the same stitch.
  • Chain three (ch 3).
  • In the next stitch, make three double crochet stitches closed together.
  • Chain three (ch 3). Repeat this pattern in each stitch around.
  • In the last stitch, make three double crochet stitches closed together, chain three, and connect with a sl st in the first stitch.

For Round 3:

  • In the first section, make a sl st.
  • Chain two, and then make two double crochet stitches closed together (forming a cluster).
  • Chain three, make three double crochet stitches closed together in the same section.
  • Chain one, then create a front post double crochet (FPDC) around the stitch below.
  • Chain one, then repeat the pattern in each section around: three double crochet stitches closed together, chain three, and a FPDC.
  • Finish the round with a sl st in the first stitch.

Round 4:

  • Slip stitch into the next section, then chain three.
  • Make three double crochet stitches (not closed together), then chain two.
  • Make another four double crochet stitches in the same section.
  • Chain one, make one single crochet in the front post double crochet from the previous round.
  • Repeat this pattern in each section around.
  • Finish with a sl st in the third chain at the beginning of the round.

Round 5:

  • Chain three.
  • For each of the next three stitches, make a back post double crochet (BPDC).
  • In the next, make two normal double crochet stitches, chain two, then another two double crochet stitches in the same space.
  • Continue around, alternating between four BPDC stitches and the two double crochet, chain two, two double crochet pattern in each section.
  • Finish the round with a sl st in the fourth chain at the start.

For Round 6 (Last Round):

  • Chain three.
  • Make a BPDC in the last four stitches of the first side.
  • Make two double crochets, chain two, and two double crochets in the same space.
  • Skip the first stitch on the next side, then make a FPDC in the FPDC from the previous round.
  • Continue with BPDC in the first five stitches of each side, skipping the first stitch after the FPDCs.
  • Sew the last stitch to finish, cut yarn, and secure ends.

Finishing Touches:

  • Starch the stars and mount them on styrofoam for decoration as desired.
