Materials Needed:

• Fine weight yarn (Number 2 or Number 3), such as sport weight or light DK.
• 4 mm Crochet hook.
• Tapestry needle.
• Scissors.

Pattern:

Starting with a magic ring:

• Chain 5 (3 chains count as 1 double crochet, 2 chains as a chain space).
• Work the following into the magic ring:
• Double crochet, chain 2 – Repeat from to a total of 5 times.
• Double crochet and then pull the magic ring tight to close.
• Slip stitch into the first chain space to join.

Round 1:

• Chain 5 (this counts as your first double crochet and chain 2).
• Double crochet into the ring, chain 2 – Repeat from to around. You will have six double crochets and six chain-2 spaces.
• Slip stitch to the third chain of the first chain-5 to join.

Round 2:

• Slip stitch into the next chain-2 space.
• Single crochet, chain 2, then work 2 more single crochets in the same space (corner made).
• Chain 2, three single crochets in the next chain-2 space  Repeat from to around.
• Chain 2 and slip stitch to the first single crochet to join.

For Round 3:

• Single crochet in the same space as joining slip stitch.
• One single crochet in the next two stitches.
• Single crochet, chain 2, single crochet in the next chain-2 space (corner made).
• Repeat to around each side and corner to form a hexagonal shape.
• Slip stitch to the first single crochet of the round to join.

Round 4:

• Chain 5 (counts as a double crochet and chain 2).
• In the same chain-2 space: double crochet, chain 3, double crochet.
• Chain 2, double crochet in the same space. Chain 1.
• Repeat this pattern at each corner, chaining 1 between the corners.

Round 5 (final round):

• Pull up a loop in the same chain space and make a single crochet, then two more single crochets in the same space.
• In the next chain space: single crochet twice, chain 3, and then make a slip stitch in the front loop and front leg of the last single crochet made.
• Single crochet twice more into the same chain space.
• Repeat the corner pattern all around: three single crochets in the next chain space, single crochet once in the next chain space.

Finishing:

• Join and fasten off.
• Weave in all ends neatly.
