Tip:
Choose a lightweight, breathable yarn for a more comfortable shirt, perfect for year-round wear.
Materials Required:
- Adorena Art 100g Acrylic Yarn in three colors
- Crochet hook (size not specified)
Instructions:
Back Panel:
- Start with a slip knot and chain 110 (for a top length of 22 inches).
- Skip two chains and in the third chain make a V stitch (double crochet, chain one, double crochet in the same stitch).
- Skip two more chains and repeat the V stitch in the third chain.
- Continue the pattern to the end of the row.
- At the row’s end, chain three, turn your work, and continue placing a V stitch in each chain-one space of the V stitches from the previous row.
- Repeat this process to create the fabric for the back panel; for example, create 9 rows with the first color.
Front Panels:
- Match the same starting number of chains as the back panel (110 chains).
- Continue with the pattern used for the back panel, but for two separate panels.
- A suggested color switch could be: 9 rows of the first color, 4 rows of the second color, and 9 rows of the third color.
Joining Shoulders and Side Seams:
- Align the wrong side of the panels and attach the shoulder sections by making alternating single crochets in the corresponding rows of the front and back panels, chaining one in-between.
- Follow a similar process for the side seams while leaving appropriate space for armholes as per sizing requirements (stitch marker may be used).
Armholes:
- Work single crochets around the armhole, alternating two single crochets in each chain-two space and one single crochet in each V stitch space.
- Add additional rows in the pattern for the border of the armhole.
Neck/Color:
- Measure 7 inches on both sides from the center to place stitch markers for the neck opening.
- Start the neck with the second color yarn and work V stitches within the existing V stitches until you reach your marked points for a number of rows suitable for the neck’s height.
- Increase stitches in the third row of the neck for widening, if necessary.
Final Touches:
- After completing the body, neck, and armhole borders, work single crochets along the bottom hem and/or around the collar to give a neat finish.
- Weave in all loose ends.
Optional – Buttons:
- Attach buttons at the appropriate place for your design if desired.
Sizing Adjustments:
- For larger sizes, make adjustments such as 10 rows instead of 9 for certain sections.
- For smaller sizes (extra small), consider reducing the number of rows.
