Tip:
Use metallic or glitter yarns to add an extra sparkle to your Crochet Christmas Flowers, making them shimmer beautifully under holiday lights.
Materials:
- Three types of yarn (T1 for small petals, T2 for large petals, white yarn for the flower heart)
- Crochet hooks (sizes not specified)
- Scissors and a yarn needle
- Optional: glue (if not sewing)
Small Petals (T1)
In Round 1:
- Start with a double circle magic ring.
- Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch).
- Work 6 single crochet (sc) into the circle.
- Pull the tail to close the ring tight.
- Slip stitch into the first single crochet to join.
Round 2:
- Chain 8 (ch 8).
- Starting from the second chain from the hook, work a slip stitch in each of the next 7 chains.
- In the ring, make one slip stitch in the next 2 stitches.
- Repeat steps 1-3 two more times to create 3 “petal pillars.”
Round 3:
- In the marked stitch, work 1 single crochet (sc), 1 half double crochet (hdc), 3 double crochet (dc), 1 hdc, and 1 sc along the petal pillar.
- At the top of the pillar, work 1 sc, chain 1, and slip stitch through the back bump of the chain (this creates a picot).
- Repeat the above stitches on the opposite side of the pillar to mirror the first side.
- Slip stitch in the space before the next petal pillar to start the next petal.
- Repeat for the remaining 2 petals.
- After the final petal, cut off the yarn, weave in the ends.
Large Petals (T2):
- Follow the same pattern as the small petals for the first round.
- For the second round, do an increase by working 2 single crochet into each stitch (6 sc increase) for a total of 12 stitches.
- For the third round, make six “petal pillars,” as with the small petals, and finish each petal with the same pattern from round three of the small petals.
- After finishing the sixth petal, cut off the yarn and hide the tails.
Heart of the Flower:
- Start with a double circle magic ring.
- Chain 5, then slip stitch through the circle to create one petal of the heart.
- Repeat step 2 five more times for a total of six petals around the circle.
- Chain 1 to secure the end and cut off the yarn.
- Close the circle tightly, hide the tails, and cut off any excess yarn.
Assembly:
- Once you have two sets of small petals, one set of large petals, and the heart of the flower, you can assemble them:
- Sew or glue the layers together, starting with the large petals at the bottom, then the small petals, and top with the flower heart.
- Alternatively, create a bouquet or attach them to a keyring as a charm.
